Krawiec now second in NHRA points with two wins in Dallas

Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines rider Eddie Krawiec was the top qualifier and won two rounds of Pro Stock Motorcycle eliminations aboard a Harley-Davidson V-Rod at the O’Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex. Krawiec moved into second place in the Countdown to One championship point standings, and now trails NitroFish Buell rider Matt Smith, the series leader, by 59 points.

Krawiec races to final round at NHRA drags in Charlotte

Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines rider Eddie Krawiec rode a Harley-Davidson V-Rod to the final round of Pro Stock Motorcycle eliminations at the NHRA Carolina Nationals at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Krawiec lost in the finals to Snap-On Suzuki rider Steve Johnson, fouling at the line by just 0.002 seconds. By winning three rounds, Krawiec moved from seventh place to fourth place in the Countdown to One championship playoffs, just 42 points behind the series leader, Matt Smith.

Coolbeth takes second place at Indy Mile Grand National

Harley-Davidson Screamin' Eagle factory rider Kenny Coolbeth finished second by inches as the AMA Grand National Twins flat track series made a dramatic return to the Indiana State Fairgrounds mile. Racing in Indianapolis for the first time since 1999, before a crowd estimated at 15,000, Coolbeth chased down Chris Carr for five laps after a restart for a red flag. Coolbeth passed Carr as the pair entered turn three on the final lap, but Carr was able to draft past the factory Harley and beat Coolbeth to the finish line by just 0.030 seconds.

Bemisderfer wins ASRA Pro Thunderbike at Summit Point

Harley-Davidson/Buell of Frederick rider Bryan Bemisderfer rode a Buell XB12R to win the ASRA Pro Thunderbike National at the Summer’s End Cyclefest at Summit Point Motorsports Park. Deeley H-D/Buell Canada/Ruthless Racing rider David Estok finished second. BMW rider Nate Kern, who finished third, clinched the 2008 ASRA Pro Thunderbike championship with one race remaining on the schedule. Kern is the first rider to win the Pro Thunderbike title on a brand other than Buell.

Coolbeth wins to clinch third AMA Grand National title

Harley-Davidson Screamin' Eagle factory rider Kenny Coolbeth clinched his third consecutive AMA Grand National Twins championship with a win on the half-mile track at Monticello Raceway. Coolbeth passed Moroney's Harley-Davidson/Screamin' Eagle rider Bryan Smith on lap 17 of the 25-lap main and led by 2.054-seconds at the finish line to win his sixth race of the season. Because his closest rival for the series title, Latus Harley-Davidson/Screamin’ Eagle rider Joe Kopp, failed to qualify for the main, Coolbeth’s win gives him an insurmountable points lead with two races left on the schedule.
