BILLINGS, MT (May 6, 2011) –Beartooth Harley-Davidson/Buell dealership is sponsoring a Basic Rider Safety Course, hosted by Montana Motorcycle Rider Safety, June 11th and 12th at the Rimrock Auto Arena in Billings, MT. Ten motorcycle enthusiasts, who’ve won their place in class by winning local radio station contests, and Beartooth Harley-Davidson/Buell in-store giveaways, will be accompanied by local Planet 106.7 radio personality, Beth Benton, who’s also the dealership’s 2011 season spokesperson. Classmates, scheduled to don helmets, boots, gloves, and jackets, will literally ‘start their engines’—some for the very first time—and hit the road to becoming licensed, full-fledged motorcycle riders.

According to the Montana Motorcycle Rider Safety Basic RiderCourse® description, “The basic rider safety course is specifically designed for novice and beginning riders.” Over two, eight-hour days, students will spend five hours in class learning basic rider techniques, such as clutch control, straight-line riding, shifting, braking, swerving, and cornering; and ten hours applying the knowledge behind the handlebars, while riding on the course’s range. Before completion of the class, students will successfully pass the course’s written and practical-skill tests before receiving their certification. Once in-hand, these certifications can be presented to the Billings Driver Examination Station, in place of the Station’s practical skill test. There, riders are also required to successfully complete the Station’s written knowledge test, before receiving their motorcycle endorsements. No exception to the rule, acquiring this endorsement is the second phase of the journey for Beartooth Harley-Davidson’s/Buell’s spokesperson. Beth will shed her novice status—with 2 ½ years know-how sitting behind a rider, and limited dirt bike experience—and join the growing trend of motorcycle-endorsed, women Harley-Davidson® riders. Beth completed the first phase of her journey in May, when she chose her first Harley-Davidson® motorcycle from Beartooth Harley-Davidson/Buell’s state-of-the-art showroom floor. Beth’s final phase is scheduled for completion when she masters her first ride during the Father’s Day Fun Ride on Sunday, June 18th.
